TOP TEN Reasons Why Should Rent from Us

Things you should consider before you rent for your next apartment/home.

1. Location! Location! Location!
   You have heard this expression above before and it is no truer than where you are going to live in relation to the University of Kentucky Campus. You need to get to campus at least two times a day and maybe three times. How much time do you want to spend in the cold and heat waiting for the bus? Or walking in the pouring rain/snow?

2. How safe it is?
   All of Wassmer Properties buildings are located on what is considered the SAFE side of the UK campus. Our buildings are located off Euclid Ave and Woodland Ave. The UK Police station is located on the corner of Euclid Ave. and Rose Street just three blocks from 90% of our apartments. We do not own or operate any apartments or homes near State Street or the railroad tracks. In January 2013 there were UK students shot coming out of Tolly Ho Restaurant on Bolivar and another shot on Simpson Ave off Virginia Ave /Red Mile Road. The South Broadway area is just not as SAFE as the other side of campus.

3. This OLD House...
   The key word here is OLD. Many many UK students start to rto picture a romantic vision about "Lets rent an old house". Sounds like a great idea but in reality is it? Most of the old houses that surround UK campus lack any insulation in their walls or ceilings and have single pane windows. If you could take a picture with an infrared camera you would see you are paying to heat and cool the great outdoors! Never a good idea and wait till you see your heating bill in January and February and you and your roommates had the thermostat down so you were still freezing. Renting a house involves seven utility bills #1 Electric, #2 Natural Gas, #3 Water, #4 Sewer, #5 Garbage #6 Internet, #7 Cable TV. Also most of these old houses have galvanized pipe for water lines...there is virtually no water pressure as it takes 5 to 10 minutes for the toilet to refill up its tank and the water coming out of the show is so slow it resembles a dribble.

4. Don't let the bed bugs bite...
   In January 2013 ORKIN PEST CONTROL, the national pest control company ranked Lexington as #24 in the nation for bed bugs. Wassmer Properties DOES NOT rent any furnished apartments. All of our apartments come with refrigerators, stoves/ovens, microwaves, mini blinds on the windows, and some with dishwashers and washer/dryers. Students are responsible for providing their own personal bedroom and living room furniture. Do you really want to sleep on some one else's used mattress?

5. Where do we park?
   Ok you know parking at UK is ridiculous and in the Fall of 2012 the construction of the new North Dorm complex took 485 parking places away from anyone who parked in between Blazer Hall and Memorial Coliseum. Everyone who purchased a UK parking pass for $248.00 was forced to walk 30 minutes to their car which must be parked at UK Commonwealth Stadium parking lot.

6. Convenient to stores and shopping
   Yes there are a lot of UK apartments on the east side of Campus off South Broadway, Red Mile Road, Virginia Ave and Angliana Ave but where do you get groceries? Dry cleaning/laundry? Drug Stores? Banks?
   Wassmer Properties apartment buildings are all located off Euclid Ave just down the street from Chevy Chase Shopping Area with five banks, a well stocked Kroger, Rite Aid drug store, cleaners, and assorted small shopper of the Chevy Chase area.

7. CATS Buses at your door
   The main CATS bus lines all travel in front of Singletary Center for the Arts. Less than a three block walk from 90% of the Wassmer Properties apartments.

8. Congratulations, you got a student loan!
   Now spend it wisely! You have to ask yourself is it really necessary that you live at an apartment complex with a theatre or a pool? The pool is open just 90 days (May 30 till August 30) but you are paying for it for 365 days with your rent. And you are paying for it with borrowed money that you will have to repay with interest for years after you finish school.

9. Free Internet Wi Fi...

10. Walk to school.
    Walk to the Library, Walk to the bars..and walk home. Enough said here.
